It only seems a few weeks ago when we were having our Christmas Lunch on 8 December last year. We had 39 members including guests who all enjoyed a meal provided by Devonshire Place: they did us proud.

Currently the branch is raising money for a new Standard as our old one is looking a little worse for wear. The current one has served us proudly for almost 20 years, both in the UK and abroad and to date, generous donations for the new Standard have been made by members: so many thanks to everyone who has donated.

January 7th around 20 people attended the De Montfort Hall for an excellent production of Scrooge with Tommy Steele in the lead role - what a great performance. Our January 12th Meeting was a "nibble and natter" to catch up with forthcoming events and any other news.

February 9th was to have been a talk by a recently retired Army SSGT, but unfortunately he was unable to get time off from his new civilian job. Hopefully we may be able to rearrange this for another time. Also this month one of our members, Joan Thornton, celebrated her 90th birthday. She brought along a special cake for us all to share and we presented her with a bouquet of flowers and a box of Thorntons chocolates (no she is not a shareholder).
