WRAC Association South & South West Area
Chairman: Major (Retired) Mack Maskens-McIntyre
Secretary: Mrs J Ford
Portsmouth Branch
Chairman: Mrs Gillian Utting
Secretary: Miss Imogene Bray
We have not had a very good year. We lost 4 members and our older members have not been able to help much due to ill health. We have 35 life members and 13 annual members.
The Chairman Gillian Utting and Secretary Teddie Bray attended the South West Area meeting at Wilton and heard what other Branches were doing. The Branch started with the beautiful Memorial Service for Brigadier Anne Field held at the Guards Chapel in London. Our Standard was carried with honour by Phyllis Price during the service. Phyllis Price went on a trip to the Menen Gate in Belgium. She attended the service held there on the 11th month, 11th day and the 11th hour which was very moving. She would like to go again next year.
It was left to our two Standard Bearers to attend the Parade in the Guildhall Square on Remembrance Sunday. Sally Watson paraded our Standard and Phyllis Price marched in the Parade and also laid the Branch Wreath. Our last event for 2011 will be a coffee morning on Saturday 26th November at Gillian Utting’s home. We hope that 2012 will be a better year for us all.
